About C. H. Guernsey

GUERNSEY designs dorms and barracks to compete with new structures comparable to those on a college campus. Rooms are designed with their own toilet facilities, closets, sitting/working areas and sleeping areas. The finish materials and colors are the latest schemes and current items including solid surface counter tops. Rooms are furnished with items to match the color scheme of the finishes and the modern trends.

GUERNSEY has been designing dorms and barracks since 1989. These designs have included:

  • bunked sleeping areas for 140 people with gang bathroom and shower facilities
  • two plus two plan – two people live in one room and share a bathroom with two people in an adjacent room; two people to a room with gang bathroom and shower facilities
  • one plus one plan – two people share a kitchenette and bathroom, but each have their own bedroom
  • four plus one plan – four people share a common living area, complete with a kitchen and living room, but each having their own bedroom and bathroom
  • efficiency apartment plan – single person unit with their own bedroom, kitchenette, bathroom and living room

All rooms are complete with phone, data and electrical support for residents to work and communicate in today’s electronic world. All rooms also have individual HVAC controls to allow the resident personal flexibility. Facilities also commonly include classrooms, computer labs, laundry rooms and administrative offices.

GUERNSEY’s interior designers select color schemes, materials and furniture similar to what can be found in any new home in America. The intent of the design is to provide a relaxing and private environment for each resident to retreat.

GUERNSEY routinely develops dormitory and barracks projects and is able to provide all environmental, civil, architectural design, mechanical, electrical and security engineering.
