Guernsey Develops Feasibility Study for PetroChina Corporation
10.14.2002
OKLAHOMA CITY - C. H. Guernsey & Company is performing a feasibility study addressing online automated monitoring system (OAMS) technologies for wastewater discharges at PetroChina Company Limited facilities. PetroChina is one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world.
The People's Republic of China's Environmental Protection Administration mandates OAMS technology be installed at all refineries and oil field sites in China to monitor effluent wastewater for pollutants.
“The China EPA has taken a different approach than we have in the United States,” said John Satterfield, project manager for C.H. Guernsey & Company. “Instead of laboratory analysis of samples, OAMS technology is the method by which dischargers demonstrate compliance with permit limitations.”
The outcome of C. H. Guernsey & Company's study will identify where OAMS technology should be used at PetroChina facilities. Availability, reliability, ease of maintenance, cost and integration into existing monitoring and control systems are variables being evaluated in the study.
The focus of the study is the Jinxi Refinery Branch Company in Liaoning Province. The study is scheduled to be completed in July 2003.
