DAEDF Awards Duncan Industrial Park Development Project to Guernsey

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Duncan Area Economic Development Foundation (DAEDF) recently selected C. H. Guernsey & Company, an Oklahoma-based engineering, architecture and consulting firm, to design improvements to the industrial park at the Duncan Municipal Airport and surrounding areas.

GUERNSEY's role includes addressing alternatives for the development of facilities for manufacturing and aircraft-related industries, as well as developing design alternatives for various building types at the industrial park. Also included is the schematic planning of a new terminal building and redesigning the airport's main entrance from Highway 81.

Involvement in the project is a great opportunity for GUERNSEY says Kevin Decker, project manager.

“This is an exciting project that allows GUERNSEY to use both its aviation and master plan experience at the same time,” Decker said. “Additionally, it affords our firm the opportunity to help the DAEDF promote growth in Duncan.”

DAEDF will oversee the project. The foundation, initiated by Duncan citizens in 1994, promotes existing business development while continuing to attract new business to the Duncan community. According to Wes Devero, president of DAEDF, more businesses and jobs are expected in Duncan as a result of the industrial park.

“This project is a joint effort with the City of Duncan, the McCasland Foundation and DAEDF. It will give us a competitive edge to recruit manufacturing and aircraft-related industry. We feel this project has great potential and are confident that we have made the right choice with C. H. Guernsey & Company,” said Devero.

The project kick-off meeting was held Aug. 13 in Duncan and the project completion date is estimated to be the third week of November 2003.
