Guernsey Project wins PetroChina Award

OKLAHOMA CITY - C. H. Guernsey & Company’s contribution in developing an Environmental Strategic Master Plan helped secure the 2004 Project of the Year award for the Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development - Langfang’s Environmental Monitoring Center, a subsidiary of PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina).

This is an internal award given annually within PetroChina to an operating or service group achieving outstanding environmental performance. The achievement was given added prestige when PetroChina’s leadership decreed all future environmental actions within the corporation are to be in alignment with the Environmental Strategic Master Plan.

PetroChina, based in Beijing, China, is an integrated, international petroleum company with assets of over $80 billion. They are the second largest employer in the world, behind Wal-Mart.
Guernsey and team member CDM, developed the petroleum company’s Environmental Strategic Master Plan for PetroChina’s Environmental Monitoring Center. The plan is the result of PetroChina’s goal to transform its operations to be more competitive with the other large, integrated international petroleum companies such as Exxon, BP, Shell, and ConocoPhillips.

The Environmental Strategic Master Plan is a broad, comprehensive master plan designed to address environmental issues in all company facilities including oil and gas exploration/production refining, petrochemicals, pipeline systems, natural gas processing and retail marketing. It delineates and defines the infrastructure and management systems needed to effectively manage all of PetroChina’s environmental needs.

The plan provides an environmental framework for the corporation and all four major operating departments. It addresses the strategic planning process, environmental management systems, functional excellence, performance gap analysis and provides environmental performance indicators. This plan will assist PetroChina in achieving its goal of being a respected and admired worldwide corporate citizen.
