Guernsey Receives Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting

OKLAHOMA CITY - C. H. Guernsey & Company received the 2005 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Exporting presented by The Honorable Kathryn L. Taylor, Oklahoma Secretary of Commerce and Tourism. The prestigious award was presented to Mr. Michael Moore, Executive Vice President, during the 22nd Annual Oklahoma World Trade Conference recently held at the Reed Center in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Guernsey’s recognition is the result of their environmental planning and engineering design for international petroleum company PetroChina Corporation, based in Beijing, China. PetroChina is the largest employer in the world possessing assets valued over $80 billion.

In 2001, GUERNSEY was engaged by the USTDA and PetroChina to address the feasibility of using an on-line automatic monitoring system for wastewater discharges from their refineries. This project was performed at the Jinxi Refinery in conjunction with Black & Veatch of Kansas City, and was completed in 2003.

In late 2003, GUERNSEY was contacted by PetroChina to assist in the development of a Strategic Environmental Master Plan for the entire corporation. GUERNSEY teamed with CDM, a large consulting firm in Cambridge, MA. The plan addressed the environmental compliance “roadmap” for the corporation and has established the foundation for PetroChina’s future environmental stewardship throughout China and the world.

GUERNSEY was also recognized with the United States Commercial Service Export Achievement Certificate presented by the United States Department of Commerce.
