Guernsey Wins Award For Glass House Renovation

08.16.2010

OKLAHOMA CITY – C. H. Guernsey & Company was recently awarded the 2010 Air Force Design Excellence Citation Award for Facility Design for the renovation of the Glass House at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington.

The renovation included a new roof, the removal of existing asbestos walls and replacing them with new concrete walls and adding new insulated glass vision windows and insulated translucent panels.

David Oman, Architectural Department Manager for Guernsey, said, “I’m pleased we were able renovate such an amazing facility. We were able to keep the identity and structure of the building intact while bringing the structure into compliance with AT/FP (anti-terrorism/force protection) requirements.”

The Glass House (60,000 square feet) was originally designed as an engine repair facility. It now serves a warehouse function.
