Guernsey gets Air Force Kudos

C.H. Guernsey & Co. in Oklahoma City recently earned the 2010 Air Force Design Excellence Citation Award for Facility Design for the renovation of the 60,000-square-foot Glass House, shown above, at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington. Originally an engine repair facility, it now is a warehouse. Renovation included a new roof, replacing asbestos walls, and adding insulated glass windows and insulated translucent panels. David Oman, architectural department manager for Guernsey, said the firm kept the "identity and structure of the building intact" while bringing it into compliance with anti-terrorism and force protection requirements."
