The new physical fitness center at Buckley AFB provides a quality facility to enhance both the Bases's mission effectiveness and the quality of life at this remote base.
The facility design allows for adequate comprehensive programs for military personnel, their dependents, retired military personnel and distinguished visitors. The anticipated average daily attendance for this facility is 200 people. The facility provides adequate support for athletics, aerobic activities, auxiliary administrative support, parking and support areas.
Included with the construction of this facility are a 76-stall parking lot, an asphalt connector drive and service drive, an additional parking area with five stalls, sidewalks, landscaping, seeding and sodding, lawn and plant irrigation and utilities. A 117-stall parking lot with access drive was constructed as an option item to the basic bid price. Increased quantities and areas of landscaping plantings, sod and irrigation were a landscaping option to the basic contract. An additional plant bed was provided as part of the Health and Wellness Center Option.

Unique and Difficult Aspects:
This project was situated on a environmentally “dirty” site; therefore, the site dimensions were restricted. Our team coordinated with the Corps of Engineers and the Base to ensure that our cost limitations fell within the newly defined boundaries. We are well versed in coordination efforts between the client, the users, and other entities to ensure all decisions, such as those related to the site are handled quickly and efficiently.
