GUERNSEY was tasked to design a solution to replace non-historic lighting fixtures and installation of non-obtrusive supplemental lighting to increase lighting levels to meet current standards. The original ceiling-mounted lighting fixtures had been removed and lost. No drawings or photographic documentation of the original fixtures existed.

A design for new decorative ceiling fixtures was prepared based on verbal descriptions of the original fixtures and existing historic wall sconces still in the courtroom. The design utilized a satin glass bowl set in a cast bronze frame. Cast bronze arms with satin glass globes, to match the wall sconces, encircle the rim of the bowl. The bowl conceals metal halide lamps which provide up-lighting of the ornate plaster ceiling and diffused down-lighting to the courtroom below.
