Hangar and Aircraft Maintenance Support Facilities
Charleston AFB, SC
This project was the design of a concrete apron with asphalt shoulders to connect a hangar to the existing taxiway and replacement of the apron serving other hangars. This project also consisted of an AFFF fire protection system with a multiple pump lift station and recovery tank. The system designed allowed slow bleed-off from the recovery tank to the existing sanitary sewer system. The project also included the design of a steam heat system with underground steam and condensate return lines.

Robins Air Force Base, GA
GUERNSEY designed the approach apron to a new hangar, with 9-inch concrete pavement along the wheel path and a 11.5-inch asphalt pavement for the remainder of the apron. The project also included the design of an AFFF supply and disposal system. This system is composed of a fire protection water line, trenches to prevent AFFF flow to the apron and storm drainage system, and piping to a waste system.
