Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection
Since the adoption of the new Anti-Terrorism and Force Protection (AT/FP) requirements, GUERNSEY incorporates them on every Department of Defense (DoD) project. Our most recent projects following these requirements include:
- DOL Facility; Fort Sill, OK
- Physical Fitness Center; Randolph AFB, TX
- BEQ; Carswell Field, TX
- BEQ; NMCRC, Kansas City, MO
- Physical Fitness Center; Buckley AFB, CO
- Recruit-In-Processing Barracks; Great Lakes, IL
- Starship Barracks; Fort Sill, OK
|
At the start of all projects the GUERNSEY team evaluates the site constraints and ability to meet set back requirements from all roads, parking lots, mechanical and electrical ground-mounted equipment and landscaping, per the current UFC. This initial evaluation is used to define the loading requirements for the exterior envelope of the facility. These requirements include doors, windows, mechanical louvers and vents.
AT/FP requirements have one of the largest impacts on the facilities’ structural system. For buildings three stories or taller, “progressive collapse” requirements must be met. GUERNSEY engineers have extensive experience in evaluating various structural systems to find the most economical system that will meet “progressive collapse” for that particular facility.
