 Congested arterials and clogged intersections plague many urban areas. In suburbs that once only experienced a morning and evening “rush hour” peak, increased population has spawned new office and commercial development. These office and commercial “destinations,” along with increased personal travel, has placed a strain on many streets.
Another area of concern for many cities is aesthetics. Streetscaping, center medians, eliminating paving through the use of shared driveways and increased landscaping area requirements are used to reduce the perception of “wall-to-wall” paving.
