Watershed Planning
Both surface water and groundwater supply sources are subjected to various land uses that reside in a watershed. While it might at first seem that surface water would be the most likely to be impacted, land surface uses overlying a “groundwater shed” can also create problems.
Watershed planning is multi-faceted and involves an evaluation of a variety of factors including:
- existing and future land use
- point source and non-point source discharges
- water quantity/flow dynamics
- water quality
- percentage of land cover
- socio-political issues
