Greenhouse Gas
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) recently finalized the mandatory Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting requirements for major sources in the U.S. The requirements are prescriptive and complex and will require quantification of carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxide (N2O), methane (CH4) and fluorinated gas emissions from sources that include fugitive emissions, process emissions, stationary combustion and/or mobile combustion. Each facility/source must have a plan in place so that they can begin capturing the required data on January 1, 2010.
The engineering professionals at C. H. Guernsey have extensive backgrounds in manufacturing/generation processes and regulatory interpretation. We can provide the process engineering, environmental reviews and other technical applications needed to evaluate the requirements of the GHG monitoring rule for your facility. We can assist you with:
- Identifying sources at your facility that are subject to GHG reporting
- Establishing flow measurement methods for all sources in accordance with the requirements of the rule
- Developing the detailed testing schedule required to document stream compositions
- Identifying "Best Available Monitoring Methods" for those sources where flow meters or stream composition data are not available
- Completing QA/QC programs to support the monitoring activities
- Developing databases to input monitoring results for USEPA's required electronic reporting formats
