Soil & Groundwater

Soil and GroundwaterSoil and groundwater investigations determine whether contamination is present on a site or property, and to what extent. GUERNSEY’s engineers, hydrogeologists, regulatory compliance specialists and environmental scientists address all phases of soil and groundwater investigations and remedial design.

Our focus is on developing solutions and obtaining proper closure with regulatory issues and associated regulatory agencies. Minimization of investigations and corrective actions are accomplished through the use of risk assessments, risk-based corrective action (RBCA) analysis and the establishment of site-specific risk levels. Remedial designs are based on the most cost-effective and appropriate methods for the chemicals of concern and individual site conditions. These methods include in-situ and ex-situ treatment of soil and groundwater, air emission control and groundwater management. All actions taken are designed to help the client minimize business liabilities.

Typical investigative processes include:

  • Analysis of Historical Data
  • Installation of Monitoring Wells
  • Soil and Groundwater Sampling
  • Soil and Groundwater Contaminant Plume Delineation
Utilizing Geoprobe and Hollow Stem Auger Technology
  • Cone Penetrometer Survey
  • Geophysical Surveys

Typical remedial technologies utilized include:

  • Soil Vapor Extraction
  • Air Sparging
  • Air Stripping
  • Thermal Oxidation
  • Soil Flushing
  • Bioremediation
  • Carbon Adsorption
  • Groundwater Extraction and Treatment
  • Stabilization, Fixation and Solidification
  • Product Recovery
  • Excavation and Disposal
